Teen Confessions 89   06/75   Beautiful cover painting by Don.
90   08/75   Not one of my favortie Newton paintings on this cover. It appears to have been edited somewhat around the main figures' heads.
The Phantom 67   10/75   Beautiful painted cover and a 23-page retelling of the origin of the Phantom, called "Triumph of Evil!" written by Joe Gill and drawn by Don. His first professional hero work. Great stuff!
68   12/75   Wonderful painted cover and a 22-page story, "The Beasts of Madame Kahn," written by Nicola Cuti and drawn by Don.
69   02/76   This issue has a beautiful painted cover by Don. He did not do any interior artwork.
70   04/76   Another wonderful painted cover and a 22-page story, "The Mystery of the Mali Ibex," written by Bill Pearson and drawn by Don. This one features the Phantom of 1938 and Don draws it as a tribute to all those old great Bogart films. Characters drawn into the story by Don include Humphry Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Peter Lorrie, and Sydney Greeenstreet.
71   06/76   Wonderful painted cover and a 22-page story, "The Phantom battles the Monster of Zanadar," written by John Clark and drawn by Don. Don's work here is exceptional as the Phantom battles a giant spider. Don also provided three illustrations for a text story, "Witchman's Revenge" in the back of the book. John Clark was a friend of Don's who, like Don, lived in Phoenix. John would later work as a letterer.
73   10/76   Another great painted cover and a 22-page untitled story featuring the evil Dr. Never, written by Ben S. Parillo (AKA Don Newton) and drawn by Don.
74   01/77   Don's most impressive Phantom cover featuring the Phantom of 1776 is stunning stuff. Inside we are treated to a 22-page story, "The Phantom of 1776," written and drawn by Don. This is a beauty folks but, unfortunately, this was Don's swan-song at Charlton. They pulled the plug on the Phantom and Don headed off for greener pastures (DC Comics).
